GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY
Before the advent of the internet, only those with a public platform, such as politicians and celebrities, could easily communicate with the public. Now, anyone who has a social media account can quickly and easily disseminate a message or an idea. In fact, many human services organizations regularly use social media to advocate for their targeted service users and to raise awareness about important social justice issues. For instance, human services employees at the National Alliance to End Homelessness regularly use social media to advocate for the needs of the homeless population. Some social media posts include statistics and other important information about homelessness, while others encourage the public to contact elected officials to pass or protect legislation designed to help homeless individuals.
For this Assignment, you create a short, social-media-style post that advocates for a social justice issue that aligns with your professional identity.

Advanced human services professional practitioner role
The advanced human services professional role that interests me so far is a community outreach worker. A community outreach worker serves an important role in assisting local communities by improving various aspects including health, education, and safety outcomes (Szelest et al., 2021). They are really important in a community as they engage in activities including lobbying for specific issues in the community with politicians. The choice is based on my resolve to help dismantle discriminative social mechanisms that marginalize societal minority groups. I endeavor to work with marginalized communities and be able to help lobby for specific issues that may be affecting marginalized communities.
As a community outreach worker, I will be able to positively impact the community in different ways. The impact of my role to the community will be significant especially in helping families and individuals from marginalized communities to access health care and social services (Roy et al., 2021). The positive impact on the community is the biggest motivation why I would prefer the role of a community outreach worker.
One of the changes that I would like to make to my professional identity statement is working with marginalized communities. I would like to work with all communities and not just focus on marginalized communities. This will be important in ensuring I perform my role as a community outreach worker. Certain communities are not marginalized but have huge populations of vulnerable people like women, children, the elderly, and others. Therefore, working with every community will allow me to also serve even those who are vulnerable in these communities. I would be able to lobby for specific issues that are affecting families and others to help the vulnerable populations.
